Melloney Harvey exhibited with Collective Ending as part of ABSINTHE §3 & Old Friends, New Friends.
Melloney Harvey’s Sculpture practice predominantly uses the historic craft of fibrous plasterwork to create fragments of architectural details. These sculptures feature elaborate handcrafted decorative detailing; faces emerging from within them in the grotesque style and adorned with imagery of classical fruit displays the type you would find in Vanitas paintings of the 17th century. These symbols centuries-old being still relevant now; abundance and beauty appear to lure through the more sinister warning symbols of the transient and vain earthly pleasures.
