Luzgina McShane exhibited with Collective Ending as part of ABSINTHE §3 & Old Friends, New Friends.
Mike McShane and Ekaterina Luzgina are an artist duo interested in miscommunication and the potential to transcend fixed meanings within language. By translating typographic forms into the language of sculpture and architecture they aim to animate and transform words and letters into actors in space. They want to reinstate the ambiguity and playful possibilities that exists in the spoken word but less so in the written. They look to create a kind of spatial poetry, where different material, gestural and written languages fuse to create fragments that float in and out of conscious understanding.
Luzgina McShane (b. UK & Russia) live and work in London. They graduated with BA’s in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art in 2016. Recent exhibitions and projects include: Deptford X Festival (London, 2019), Units of Measure (Group Exhibition) at Take Courage Gallery (London, 2019), Cosmoscow Art Fair w. H.L.A.M. Gallery (Moscow, 2019), Text As (Artist-in-Residence) at Campbell Works Gallery (London, 2019).
