Parasol:
MUD, TURF + STEEL
11.09.2021
In the summer of 2021 Collective Ending partnered with invited collaborators across the disciplines of fashion, publishing, film and performance to host creative happenings in our home at Collective Ending HQ. ‘Parasol’ offered an alternative programme of interdisciplinary events that celebrated exchange and collaboration between art forms, and focused on the importance of the live experience.
In September we hosted MUD, TURF + STEEL, a performative dinner by Gobyfish within a specially constructed dining area in the gallery, focusing on the tension and interplay between mechanised and organic environments and the fallacy of perceived differences between nature and culture.
Founded in 2019 by Fenella Brereton and Maia Magoga, Gobyfish create concept-dinners and edible installations inspired by ritual food practices, collaboration and knowledge exchange, with an emphasis on seasonal, local and foraged produce. Their welcoming and intimate events foreground the act of eating as a means to talk about wider conversations on ecology, the sociopolitical and ancestral ways of knowing.
